1.What is blue copper peptide?
Peptide is currently a popular ace skincare ingredient, and blue copper peptide is one of the increasingly popular stars. It is displayed as "tripeptide-1 copper" on the Ingredient List (INCI) of skincare raw materials. It is a complex composed of glycine-L-histine-L-l-l-l-lysine (Gly His Lys) and a copper ion. Because the aqueous solution presents a beautiful blue color, it is also known as blue copper peptide (GHK-Cu).
2.What are the effects of blue copper peptides?
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring tripeptide molecule in the human body that participates in metabolism. As age increases, the concentration of copper peptide in the body decreases.
At the age of 20, the concentration of copper peptides in the blood is approximately 200ng/mL, which drops to 80ng/mL at the age of 60.
Numerous studies in cell biology have shown that copper peptides can accelerate wound healing, promote skin regeneration, stimulate the synthesis of dermal collagen, elastic fibers, and mucopolysaccharides, as well as provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
GHK-Cu has been maturely applied in skincare products as an active ingredient for skin repair and anti-aging, increasing skin density and elasticity, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, making loose skin firm, reducing light damage and pigmentation, improving skin brightness, etc. It is gentle and has no side effects, and is a divine tool with both anti-aging and repair effects.
3. What are the effects of blue copper peptides on scalp hair?
During the aging process of males and females, hair follicles gradually shrink, hair becomes thinner, and even stops growing. GHK-Cu can promote the growth of hair follicle cells, reduce their apoptosis, stimulate the generation of blood vessels around hair follicles, provide sufficient nutrition for hair follicles, and then enlarge hair follicles, accelerating the production of thicker hair.
GHK Cu: stimulates hair growth
Scientists are excited to discover in skin research that hair follicles are the source of skin stem cells. Professor Loren Pickart observed that after treating skin wounds with GHK-Cu, the skin follicles at the edge of the wound significantly increased. Further research on radioactive isotopes in mice has shown that short-term (30 seconds) exposure to GHK-Cu can increase hair follicle volume by 4 to 8 times and increase hair growth within 12 days. Afterwards, Professor Bernard Kalis demonstrated for the first time the positive effects of GHK-Cu on human hair follicles. He found that GHK-Cu caused more human hair follicles to transition from a dormant resting period to a growing period. In a three-month study on men, it was found that the use of hair care products containing GHK-Cu (Tricomin) increased hair growth, with a 32% higher efficacy rate than the control group using 2% minoxidil.
4.GHK Cu: reduces the formation of DHT in hair follicles
Type I 5 in hair follicles- α Reductase promotes the production of androgens (DHT) in hair follicles. DHT can stimulate hair follicles to produce more oil, disrupt the health and growth of hair follicles, gradually shrink hair follicles, lose support for hair, and cause hair loss. Professor Sugimoto et al. found that copper ions have an impact on type I 5- α The inhibitory effect of reductase can reach 90%. The use of GHK-Cu can introduce copper ions into the skin, thereby reducing the secretion of androgens and relieving its inhibitory effect on hair growth. But this process is gentle and will not cause irritation to the skin.
5.GHK Cu: Improving microcirculation of hair follicles
Hair follicles have a very high metabolic activity efficiency. However, studies have found that the capillaries of aging hair follicles often have insufficient blood circulation, leading to nutritional deficiencies, which may be one of the reasons why hair becomes thinner with age. GHK-Cu can promote the generation of capillaries around hair follicles to improve microcirculation.
6.GHK Cu: Anti inflammation
The tissue damage around hair follicles, excessive autoimmune inflammation, and oxidative reactions caused by free radicals can lead to the degradation of hair follicle function, weakening or even loss of hair growth ability. GHK-Cu can reduce this impact because it blocks the excessive release of inflammatory factors. 2) During the aging and damage process of hair follicles, ferritin releases ferrous ions, promoting the formation of free radicals and causing more oxidative reactions. GHK-Cu prevents ferritin from releasing ferrous ions. 3) GHK-Cu provides additional copper for the natural antioxidant superoxide dismutase SOD in the skin, activating more SOD to exert its antioxidant effect and eliminate free radicals.
7.GHK Cu: Repair damaged scalp
Hair loss, especially in women, may be caused by scalp damage caused by relaxants, hair dye chemicals, hair dryers, and hot oil therapy. After decades of using eyebrow dyes, it has been found that women's eyebrows often become severely thinner at the age of 40, indirectly reflecting the impact of hair dye products on female hair loss. GHK-Cu can be used after various hair treatments to accelerate the repair of scalp injuries.
8.GHK Cu: reduces hair whitening
Hair will turn gray with age, and the speed at which hair turns gray depends on whether the effective copper content in the scalp is sufficient. Tyrosinase plays an important role in the formation of melanin in hair. Tyrosinase contains copper ions, and insufficient copper ions will greatly weaken the activity of tyrosinase, thereby affecting the generation of melanin. The use of GHK-Cu can supplement copper for tyrosinase, enhance melanin production, and slow down the process of hair graying. Some consumers have reported that their white hair will turn black again after using products containing GHK-Cu.
9.GHK Cu: Helps with post transplant repair
As hair loss becomes increasingly severe, hair transplantation is becoming more and more popular. Scientists are developing another use of blue copper peptides to help with hair transplantation. ProCyte sells a product containing GHK Cu called GraftCyte. Spraying GraftCyte on the wound after hair transplantation can promote the healing of transplanted hair follicles, reduce postoperative hair loss, and promote faster hair growth. The patient sees new hair growth within 6 weeks, while the normal time for other surgeries is 10 to 14 weeks. The time for normal skin to scab after transplantation has been reduced from 10-14 days to 5 days.
